TLN supports new LER Ecosystem Map
T3 Innovation Network Learning & Employment Record Guide, with input from key stakeholders – across the education, technology, government, and research and advocacy sectors – recently released the LER Ecosystem Map. This map is a tool to drive opportunity and equity through Learning & Employment Records (LERs), empowering all involved to work toward a shared mission.
The LER Ecosystem Map includes:
- An overview of how we use LERs and why they matter
- A summary of stakeholder roles and work streams within the ecosystem with regards to developing, issuing, using and adopting LERs
- Technical guidance
- Stakeholder pages that provide a brief definition and examples of the stakeholder group
- Social and business case value propositions
- Action areas to promote effective use and adoption of LERs in service of equity and opportunity
The Trusted Learner Network (TLN) is a proud supporter of the LER Ecosystem Map, and Kate Giovacchini, Executive Director of the TLN and ASU Pocket, is quoted in the section of the LER Ecosystem Map focused on Governance: “Governance is the method that we use to make meaningful signal out of noise. TLN brings together our governing body to propose policies that will govern how learners, issuers and service providers will interact with our network, establishing quality, predictability and plain-language explanations that describe what we’re doing to enable verifiable credentialing.”
The TLN’s Governing Body Committee represents different institutional journeys, design backgrounds and locations across the United States and beyond to ensure that the group is scaling a network that benefits all learners. Together, the TLN Governing Body has developed its Governing Charter 1.0, Policy Set for Issuance and for Learners.
This is the second iteration of the map, and provides a better user experience, addresses gaps in understanding about stakeholder roles, and clearly defines common terms and frameworks used in the field. Special congratulations to TLN Architecture Advisory member Kerri Lemoie and her colleague Gillian Walsh for leading the effort!
