Trusted Learner Network: A look back at 2022

The Trusted Learner Network (TLN) is committed to bringing a digital credentialing ecosystem to lifelong learners. In doing so, they are creating future-focused technology and a dedicated and growing community of individuals who are passionate about learning and employment records (LERs) and the equity that the TLN offers to learners and earners everywhere.

Now into the first of two design cycles, the TLN has successfully established a foundation for its product and is also developing a community of key stakeholders that can participate openly and productively in this space.

Advancing the Community & Technology of the TLN

Established their inaugural Committee Members, serving on the Governing Body & Architecture Advisory. These Committee Members, including Motlow State Community College President Dr. Michael Torrence and University of Colorado Boulder’s Noah Geisel, collaborated biweekly to discuss the latest updates on the TLN and provide guidance and recommendations for next steps in development.

Developed an Alpha Tech Stack, the technological foundation for the work of the TLN.

Hosted more than 100 industry experts, leaders and designers gathered in Scottsdale, Arizona for the TLN Unconference in May 2022. During the event, attendees focused on key topics in digital credentialing and learning and employment records (LERs), including:

  • Evolving digital identity
  • Learner/earner empowerment
  • Governance, trust & value
  • Value proposition
  • Connecting learning & employment
  • Dynamic learning experiences

Traveled across the country to share details about the TLN at major conferences and events, like JFF Horizon and EDUCAUSE.

Created the TLN’s first Governing Charter to outline the roles, scope, responsibilities and aspirations of the governance committee. The TLN Community was given the opportunity to share their input before the Charter was finalized.

Grew a thriving TLN Community that receives regular communications about the latest updates and opportunities to get involved. We even hosted a Community coffee event during the EDUCAUSE conference in Fall 2022!

Sneak peek: The future of the TLN

When it comes to the future of the Trusted Learner Network, managing director Kate Giovacchini and the team will continue to build on their productive foundational work in 2022. In 2023, the team will expand on its partnerships, grow and refine the TLN to establish its place in the market, and create the go-to-market plan to launch the TLN in 2024.

“I’m elated with the progress that the TLN has made in such a short time, and look forward to the future of this emerging ecosystem and its Community,” said Giovacchini.
