TLN presents on trust in the digital credential age at Convergence 2023

What does trust have to do with credentials? (Spoiler alert: everything!) The Trusted Learner Network’s Executive Director Kate Giovacchini and members of the Governing Body will host an interactive session on this topic at Convergence 2023 in Washington, D.C., on November 1-3, 2023. Co-hosted by UPCEA and AACRAO, Convergence brings together campus stakeholders in credential innovation to define and develop their institutional strategy around alternative credentials.

The TLN’s session on Wednesday, November 1, at 3:00 p.m. ET (Concurrent Session I), will include expert perspectives from Governing Body members Sherri Braxton, Bowdoin College; Insiya Bream, University of Maryland Global Camus; Noah Geisel, University of Colorado; and Meena Naik, JFFLabs.

The TLN’s Governing Body Committee represents different institutional perspectives, design backgrounds and locations from across the United States and beyond to ensure the TLN designs a network that benefits all learners. So far, the committee has created the TLN’s Governing Charter 1.0, Issuance Guide and Learner Policies – this work shapes the technology used by the TLN to share the rights and responsibilities of all parties involved.

Together, they will discuss how the TLN confronts the common challenges of quality, accessibility and value in the digital credential ecosystem by developing governance frameworks, institution-friendly technology, and a strong and engaged community. View the full event schedule.

“The work of UPCEA and AACRAO is making a tremendous impact on moving digital credentialing forward, and we are excited to come speak about our experiences with governance, technology and agency for all,” said Giovacchini. “We look forward to showcasing the value of trust in the digital credential ecosystem — even if it disrupts current practices — and how we can collaborate with others in the community to accelerate value creation and sense-making in this space.”
